Submissions & Guidelines

*Please note that the spam folder for our email address is an overactive beast and so if you don't hear from us in a week, that is probably where your email has landed. Do not be distressed! We will be sifting through the spam once a week to find any stragglers. THEREFORE! It is EXTREMELY important that you pay extra attention as to what to put in the subject line of your email so if you do happen to be sucked into the spam hole, it will be easy to pull you out. PLEASE AND THANK YOU!

Do you have an overflowing desire to write? Or draw? Or photograph the world around you? Do you find delight in jars full of doll hands and creaking staircases? Then we want you to write a story or draw a picture for us. Please read the guidelines carefully as submissions that do not fit the requirements will not be accepted and that would be a shame. All work submitted MUST be original work by the writer or artist submitting it. When you submit your work you give Underneath The Juniper Tree the royalty-free right to display it on our site and to put it in our online issue without any *compensation.

All submissions must be no larger than 100dpi or else our inbox will eat it up and it will never see the light of day again.
Please make sure your image is a jpeg.

If you would like to illustrate a story, or write a story about an image, please send your contact information, your website, a little blurb about yourself and some examples of your work (artists, I’m looking at you) to junipertreelit@gmail.comm. We will add you to our list of writers/artists.

A Note On Creative Rights: you, the author and you, the artist retain all rights to your pieces as you have created them. If you create something specifically for our weekly challenge or monthly contests, you still retain all rights to your piece. These are your pieces. Yours. YOURS! By submitting your work to Underneath The Juniper Tree you are allowing us royalty-free use of your piece on our site and in our issue if we choose to do so. But they are still yours. All yours.

*All of those at Underneath The Juniper Tree are volunteers and therefore we are unable to compensate writers and artists with money or abundance of gifts for their work. We will, however, put many hours into helping with editing and suggestions with pieces so that your best work can be displayed in Underneath The Juniper Tree if it is accepted. We love new work and want to see emerging creative people succeed.
